Happy New Year
2013 is coming to a close. It was full of beautiful memories, great times with old and new friends, hardships, loss of family, strengthening of faith, many quilts done, much new fabric to oogle at, finishing up some UFO's, starting more projects .And I have to mention a new grandbaby, Izzy joined our family along with our 3 other beautiful grandkids to be with and watch grow.
We at Log Cabin Quilting want to wish everyone a Happy New Year and a thank you for doing business with us this past. year. And we look forward to 2014, the new fabric is pouring in and gets us so excited.
Don't forget we have a huge selection of fabric at 50% off as well as all our candles and gifts.
And we also are going to do the big Super Bowl Sale again. It will be our 10th! Unbelievable.
If you want to come now and shop I can tell you that there are many bolts to choose from and you need to see all the new stuff.. The candle cupboard is sold but there are more candles at 50% off as yet, so hurry in.
Looking for a home for 2 orange striped male cats, declawed and neutered. They are such good loveable cats. We are living in a smaller home and my husband's allergies are uncontrolled with 3 cats in house.
If interested let me know I can send you pictures.
Thanks and have a safe and blessed New Year's

Sale and coupon book
Hi quilters,
Hope you all had a nice Christmas, the weather is surely doing its part.
Ring in the new year with good health, good times and great friends and family.
We have for you an end of the year sale going on at this time and you can come in now thru January to pick up the new coupon books for 2013. Great sales to cash in on each month in 2013.
UPS man continues to come frequently bringing in great new fabric and notions just for you.
The upstairs apt. is nearly ready for becoming a retreat center. Waiting on the order of mattresses to come.
So book the space and have a quilting get together, cooking get together, family reunion, scrapbooking or whatever. Includes a huge kitchen, bathroom with tub and shower, huge living room area with new lighting and 8 foot tables, dining table, counter bar and 3 bedrooms . We will be scheduling our own retreats and classes to be held in the new area. Watch for more info after the new year.
Cost depends on time needed, # of people and need for overnite stay etc..
Will post pictures very soon. I am excited for people to use this space as I really enjoyed living there.
We are now settling in my mothers house just right behind the shop. So the snow will still not keep me from opening the shop .
Christmas, my child, is love in action. Every time we love, every time we give, it's Christmas.

Open House
Hi quilters,
It is taking me a while to get the hang of getting into the website to blog but I promise it will get better.
We did get moved out of the apt. and into my mother's house but really there are boxes everywhere.
The apt. is nearly all cleaned and ready to get the bedrooms done for the retreat. We bought some
great lights for the big room where the tables are - so the installment of lights is high on my honey do list and the list is getting longer.
Blogging to invite you to Log Cabin Quiltings holiday open house tomorrow. All fall fabric is 25% off,
bargain bolts are $3.00/yard, samples for sale, more $1.25 fat quarters and so much new fabric!! And the flavored coffee is on as well as hot cider with chocolate fudge and puff caramel corn. And we have our pampered chef consultants in the back of the store with some great deals!!
Check out the web as Tara has been trying to keep up with the ups man. Also check out the gallery and you can see our samples in the store. We can put together any kits for these.
The primitive gathering BOM is going to start in January. So check it out and let me know if you are interested . Another line of fabric came in today for the next BOM we will be putting together in 2013.
Lots of ideas for Christmas as well as gift certificates.
Hope you all had great Thanksgiving with family and friends.
(We make a living by what we get:: we make a life by what we give.)
Keep warm and hope to see you in the shop.

Hi quilters,
Been busy moving from the apt. to my mothers house. Plans to have a retreat center in the apt. are in the works. If interested for a certain date let me know ahead of time.
Happy Halloween. What a great night it was for the trick & treat little people.
The ups man continues to bring us great things. Tara is in the process of getting all of the new things on the web. There is so much! 20 bolts from primitive gatherings Old Glory collection just got here. A must see.
I will mention a few new notions again: cover button kits 1 1/8", the quilters boot-will miter your corners right where you want them, especially on odd angles. Lighted seam ripper with magnifying glass.
Making pillows - we have pillow forms. Need christmas ideas or gifts, we can help and we love to.
Or remember gift certificates are always good for that hard to get quilter.
Exira/Elk Horn Spartans football game Friday at Exira vs. Glidden. Win one more and on to the dome!!

More
Okay I am back. Had a little trouble with technology but I got it.
So much to tell you because the UPS man has been to the shop alot. I am wowed by the fabric that has come in. Tara is busy getting it all on the web so keep checking.
Attended the AQS show this year. Had not been there for 3 years due to Mom's illness so it was a great time. My most favorite find was the booth with the rulers called loc bloc. These rulers are fantastic!
They have a depression in them that allows you to lock them right up against your seams and they will not move. Many sizes available or available as a set. So getting home from the show I ordered them for the shop. They should be in tomorrow! We will demo them in the shop.
We are preparing to go to Winterset this weekend to set up a booth inside the elementary bldg where they have the quilt show. It is the first year they have had vendors with the show. So I am excited to be one.
It may rain Saturday so come on inside and enjoy the quilt show and vendors if you are in town.
Have a great weekend.

Hi Quilters,
It has been forever since I have written to you, but I am going to blog regularly once a week to start with and increase as I get into the swing of things. We at the shop have been busy making you new samples to look at, checking in new fabric and notions, making kits and keeping the longarm machine humming. I have also been busy geting ready for my mothers estate garage sale this Friday and Sat. and getting ready for the Fall Festival in town. The weather is supposed to be great so come and join in the fun. Much to do and see and shop.
I am going to introduce you to 3 new notions added to the shop.
*Quilters Chalk Line - (like a carpenter uses) use to square up quilt edges for binding, mark placement lines for applique, mark straight lines for hand and machine quilting.
*Wonder Clips - holds fabric together like pins, but is like a small plastic clothespin, great for binding
*White transfer paper - if you do not like to trace over a lightbox or on a window this is like the old tracing paper we used to use when making garments. You place it over the fabric you want to design on, put your pattern on top and trace with a pencil or pen. It works-I tried it.
I hope to see you this weekend at the festival we have lots to show you.
I am ready for some of Granny's Kettle Corn!

2 weeks until the Iowa shop hop and we are getting ready.
We are not taking a bus due to the illness of my mother. Plans are to do a bus trip this fall.
I believe it will be more relaxing then. We are getting Christmas and fall fabric in the shop!
Really hard for me to think Christmas but it comes around fast.
Check out this recipe-I love rhubarb-
2 c. rhubarb
1/3 c sugar
1/4 c. water
1/4 tsp cinnamon
Bring to boil. Simmer 8-10 minutes. Stir in 1/2 tsp. honey. Pour over ice cream.

Tip of the Day
Borders: To add borders to a quilt you must measure through the middle the quilt for the length of your borders. If you do not, your quilt will not be sqaure. And if you have it machine quilted, the quilter will not be able to keep your borders from puckering. If you have any questions or would like to request a class please call the quilt shop! 712-268-2487
